I know this answer!! *jumps up and down with her hand raised*
Attics are a small place that people store things at, and barely go in. So, it is a place that spirits can hide without being cought. It’s sorta like invading someones home and not being welcomed. Once you do have the door open to the attic the spirit/entity goes crazy, and then that is when you have the most activity in the house. It is also said to be the quietest place in the house, and that is another reason that they go hide there. Because if there is no one there, then why do they need to manifest themselves in some way.
Basements on the other hand, are really different. You can go in and out of them as much as you like. With or without the lights, in the day or night, when it’s winter or summer. Some even have then like their living room, and have sleep overs down their. So, that’s not were a spirit would most likely be. Inless they are a residuent (sp) ghost that is like a video that goes over and over. The other way is if they are attached to an item.

People’s imaginations must be more active in attics, so they must be more prone to see things that aren’t there in attics.

They are not more or less prone to hauntings than any other place.

It has something to do with the roof bc it is triangular shaped that it helps attract more spirits. The Spirit Path Pattern consists of six acupuncture points and has a twofold function that is formulated and designed to install the right frequencies for strengthening ( a roof ) (or Bermuda triangle)

Its not that the attics or the basements that have the most activity… Its just that more people are reporting the activity that happen in their attics then they do in their basements… Because the activity in the attics frighten more people then any other activity… Just look at the reports for they will bare me out…. When something paranormal happen beneath you you can blame it on the home settling.. But above you where noise should not be happening.. Boom it is because of paranormal activity and not because of a mouse or rat loose in your attic which is the case in most events…… Also most people believe that rats are more active in a basement… That is why they will set ten traps in the basement but only one or two in the attic…… Just read the reports you will see the truth of my words…………

I am not sure if I fully agree with the fact that basements have more paranormal activity than attics but I see many things anyway and some people attract more energy to them so that it nearly follows them.

Anyway, I’ll take a stab at the question though. All things emit energy of some sort. If a basement has a fusebox in it and possible other interferences with the flow of energy. There is possibly less in the attic.

I was just chatting with someone who disagreed with me on that and had a really excellent viewpoint. Attics are places where most ancient things are stored (in the basement where I was from you risked mold in the basement so of course). Spirits and energy will remain close to their things sometimes.

Because attics are warmer than basements, the basement is always so cold!!!!

my bedroom was in the attic. it was scary as hell up there. something would walk up the steps and walk over to my bed and stand in front of my face. i couldn’t see it but you could hear it. my mother had a room in the attic as well and she slept there until my father died. she told me one day that she was sleeping and heard somebody come up the stairs. she thought it was me. she heard it walk up to her door then it was in the room and walked up to the bed and stood by her face. just like me. she never slept up there again. we went away from that house in may of 1999. when i dream of being in that house i usually dream a normal dream except its got a scary feeling to it. i miss that ancient House and go by it from time to time and sneak in the back yard and talk to it. yes i know its weird to talk to it but i still do.

Maybe ghosts don’t like the moisture.

Maybe dry attic = more static electricity = more electric charge/energy in the air to draw from = more energy to cause paranormal activity.
